Here's what I do:

1. Communicate clearly and concisely

   • To express goals, tasks, new content, concerns, and details.

     • This happens in the form of:

       1. Daily agenda and direction slides

       2. Email correspondences

       3. In-person meetings

       4. LMS (Learning Management System) tools and resources (I've used Google Classroom and Schoology)

       5. Verbally leading individual, small group, or whole group instruction

2. Creatively manage a range of abilities and personalities

   • Teach, interact with, and build relationships with approximately 130 eighth graders who come from a wide range of backgrounds and have many different behavioral and academic needs

3. Create and maintain a positive atmosphere.

   • Intentionally build in humor, physical activity, and fun in order to help all students feel comfortable and increase engagement and productivity

4. Seamlessly integrate technology

   • Using 1:1 iPads, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and SmartBoard Technologies

   • Determine daily the most appropriate use of the technologies offered, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and navigate troubleshooting for myself and my students

5. Collaborate with other 8th grade science teacher to plan and create engaging lessons.

   • Balance our unique knowledge, skills, and abilities to efficiently move from big-picture to detailed day-to-day planning while sifting through state standards, dozens of options of resources, student interests and needs, and our own content knowledge.

6. Founded and ran the Science Olympiad team.

   • Ran recruitment and registration process to create team(s); managed required health and privacy forms for each student; organized physical and digital science resources; helped students research, study, design, and build materials for 22 different topics; navigated online tournament system (scilympiad); wrote and scored tests at regional tournaments.
